A Horse's Dignity
Our Journey
It's a family thing. My mom was always bringing home dogs abandoned on the side of the road. My sister, Morgan, and I were forever rescuing just about anyone that needed help; lizards, birds, cats, dogs. We even secretly helped the two neglected Arabs that lived next door to us. They were underweight and were just about kneedeep in manure with badly overgrown hooves. Their water was disgusting. We'd clean their stalls, feed them a little extra and turn them out sometimes.
Now, as adults, we can act on behalf of animals in need without worrying about keeping it a secret. And we do just that. After seeing the neglect
of horses over the years and learning about the horrific and brutal slaughtering practices to which they are subjected, we are firmly and passionately standing between them and the indifference and ugliness that mankind is capable of delivering. One of our hopes is that no horses will ever have to live those horrible last days of a horse on the way
to slaughter.

Unfortunately horse slaughter is a very real practice. We take in owner surrendered horses with the absolute promise that there beloved horse(s) will never face the cruelties of abandonment, neglect, or slaughter. All of the horses we take in are only placed under "Custodial Care".
